The activities in the pictures below show our children engaging in their daily chores. In addition to school and fun, they have to help out like in any other family. In the laundry room, which we equipped with your support, they wash clothes for all 250 children every day.
The buildings, which house different age groups, are scattered over a large area. Don Bosco Boy is for the oldest boys while House of Mercy is for the oldest girls. St. Martin’s House is home to children in elementary school while St. Edmund’s House and St. Bakhita house toddlers. Newborns live in a separate wing of the main house.
The older children are responsible for making sure their rooms and common spaces are kept tidy. It’s truly remarkable how smoothly everything runs, especially considering the size of the family. The children have enough time for everything – studying, chores, fun, and developing friendships.
We hope that Christopher’s death, which was an unexpected tragic event for the whole Kasisi, will kick off a chain reaction of good. Because of this, we started the Christopher Sakala Fund. With this fund, we support children being treated on the oncological ward at the hospital in Lusaka.
