Today Sister Mariola is being helped with her bookkeeping by a chance visitor. He dropped in, offered to help and is looking through the excel tables with such commitment as if he had been doing it all his life. There is no denying, however, that he is completely… unfamiliar with these matters.
Apart from accounting matters related to school fees, everyone in Kasisi is preparing to send students to schools and boarding schools. A new school year means quite a stir in Kasisi. The kitchen is preparing lunch boxes full of goodies. The sisters have bought several dozen new pairs of shoes, backpacks and uniforms. And only the little babies wonder what is going on and why there is such a commotion.
This whole endeavour costs money! So far, the new school year has consumed more than $24,000 from the Kasisi budget. That’s a lot, because we’re sending out 151 students to schools and kindergartens. 1 student, 6 college students, 27 to secondary school, 96 to primary school and 21 to kindergarten. This does not include the more than 20 students from outside Kasisi whom we have also promised to help get an education. There are also the students who are studying medicine in Poland.
Big numbers! Such that would make anyone go pale in the face. Taking into account the exchange rate of the dollar, which has reached 4 PLN, we have just lost almost 100 000 PLN. We are thankful to you that we can afford such an investment! These 151 kids are 151 individuals that have a chance to make their dreams come true in the schools of their dreams.
We need to add some fuel to this wonderfully functioning educational machine. Today we would like to invite you to Shop for Kasisi, to the section with school supplies. Drop in and donate what these kids need most.
The metal cots and worn-out mattresses have lulled generations of Kasisi kids to sleep, but are now in desperate need of replacement.
Our dream is to make the babies’ bedrooms look like a truly homely, safe environment that is associated with warmth. Will you help us make this dream a reality?
