Moses’s mother had been living on the streets for a long time – without a roof over her head, without regular medical care, and without any way to ensure safety for herself or her child. When her health suddenly took a turn for the worse, she was taken to the hospital. That’s where she began treatment – her only chance at recovery.
During this time, the responsibility for caring for Moses fell to us. We welcomed him into our home with great tenderness and care. His life is only just beginning, and yet he has already been through so much – but now he is safe. He has his own crib, a full tummy, a dry diaper, and arms that hold him close every day.
Each day, we get to know him a little better – his needs, his smile, his little routines.
We don’t know what the future holds for Moses and his mother. Perhaps one day she’ll be able to get back on her feet and return for her son. Or maybe we will be his home for longer.
Whatever happens, Moses already has what every child needs most – love, care, and a sense of safety.
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
