Beatrice came to us at the beginning of December. She is 6 months old and has a heart-melting smile. It is futile to wait for her tears or displeasure. This is what a child who finally feels safe looks like.
Beatrice had enjoyed an ordinary, good life with a happy family until recently. Everything changed, in an instant. Someone, for unknown reasons, set fire to their house. Beatrice’s parents were left homeless, living under a tree by the bus station. They have seven children. For the youngest of them, they asked us for shelter until they could find a new home.
Now, for Beatrice and her siblings, Kasisi is home, with the arms of sisters and aunties filling in for maternal embraces. We hope that the kids will return to their parents as soon as possible. However, they won’t manage without you now.
And this smile today is for you – anyone who wants to give Beatrice a big hug today and surround her with a cocoon of love and security for a long time to come.
The metal cots and worn-out mattresses have lulled generations of Kasisi kids to sleep, but are now in desperate need of replacement.
Our dream is to make the babies’ bedrooms look like a truly homely, safe environment that is associated with warmth. Will you help us make this dream a reality?
