Kasisi changes and grows with the children, but that one unchanging ‘Welcome Home’ as a greeting is as sure as the Sun.
We say it so much – at HOME in Kasisi this and that has happened, a new baby has come HOME to Kasisi. There is no place like HOME. And we don’t mean the buildings, or the beautiful garden, or that huge tree that shelters hundreds of Kasisi kids in its shade. These are all just the framework in which Kasisi’s love no longer seems to fit.
For the Home of Kasisi is carried in one’s heart.
When we speak of Home, we mean the understanding arms of the Sisters and aunties when something at school does not go as it should. We mean that any child can go to Sister Mariola, say “Mummy, I’m unwell today” and Sister will listen to him or her as if they were the most important thing in the world (and we know that for her at the moment they are) – and then the aunties will help solve any problem. In this HOME, every child’s birthday and dreams are noticed, loved and remembered.
We remember too, and on today’s Children’s Day we would like each child from Kasisi to get what they dream of. For Miniva, it will be chocolate. Peter likes stickers with cars (red ones because they are the fastest). Twalumba has fallen in love with picture books. It doesn’t take much for this home to be filled with elated laughter today!
