Gratitude That Comes Back

Steven’s Story

Date added: 17.03.2026
When he came to Kasisi, he was 13 years old. He was a very modest boy, grateful for everything he received. From the beginning, he stood out for his ambition and hard work. He set goals and consistently worked towards achieving them.
Today, Steven is 26 years old and a lecturer at the University of Lusaka. He teaches Human Development because he understands very well what human growth is about. During his studies, he received some support from you, while he worked hard to support himself. He dreamed of continuing his education in Poland, but when he was offered a position at a Zambian university, he simply told Sister Mariola: I want to serve my country. And he stayed.

But what happened during one of his visits to Kasisi moved Sister Mariola to tears. Steven handed her an envelope with money and said that since she had helped him throughout his life, now he wanted to help her. He promised to set aside part of each salary for the children at Kasisi.

For Sister Mariola, this is the most beautiful proof that children raised at Kasisi grow into wise and good people.

Steven is coming to the end of his journey in the “Adoptions from the Heart” program, as he no longer needs financial support. But we are still keeping our fingers crossed for him. He is a young man who, despite a difficult start, has not only fought for his own future but is also helping others do the same.

Urgent help needed

Passport to the Future – Donate a School Starter Kit

A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
