Nelly has been through a lot in her life. She came to Kasisi when she was three months old, blind and completely paralysed. Her determination proved to us that you can rise from any problem.
Yesterday our Nelly celebrated her 30th birthday! She celebrated it together with her Kasisi friends. Thank you for every piece of cake you gave her. Yesterday a cake was also brought for Nelly by Dr Sahar, who, as it turned out, also celebrates her birthday on 1 March:)
Nelly has had several operations, including two in Poland. Sister Mariola fought very hard for her, and did everything in her power to get her health back on track. Thanks to the treatment, her condition has improved to the point where she walks, sees, speaks and smiles a lot. She will never be fully independent; someone always has to accompany her, but the fact that she is still with us, that she is functioning so well, is a real miracle.
Today, Nelly is a woman who loves magazines and watching TV with Sister Mariola. She will also occasionally go into town to do some shopping, which brings her great joy.
Nelly, we are grateful that you are with us. We love you and will always support you!!!
The metal cots and worn-out mattresses have lulled generations of Kasisi kids to sleep, but are now in desperate need of replacement.
Our dream is to make the babies’ bedrooms look like a truly homely, safe environment that is associated with warmth. Will you help us make this dream a reality?
