We just received exciting news from Kasisi that we’d love to share with you – all underage children under our care have been vaccinated against Covid-19! Sisters and staff are next in line. We’re taking these measures to ensure everyone is safe amidst the third wave of the pandemic.
As the school year has just resumed in Zambia our residents returned to boarding schools across the country on Sunday. Before they left, we celebrated with a festive barbecue rounded off with special treats and fun and games.
At just one month old, little Mercy hasn’t received her vaccination yet, but at least she is now safe at Kasisi, her new home. Her mother is just 17 and chronically ill. Abandoned by her relatives who weren’t willing to help her out, she wasn’t able to provide for her daughter and turned to us for help. Today, Mercy joined our adoption project and is now waiting for virtual adoptive caregivers who will help create a wonderful, carefree childhood for her at Kasisi.
We hope that Christopher’s death, which was an unexpected tragic event for the whole Kasisi, will kick off a chain reaction of good. Because of this, we started the Christopher Sakala Fund. With this fund, we support children being treated on the oncological ward at the hospital in Lusaka.
