These photos show a typical day at Kasisi. Just look at how much joy and happiness there is! The children we look after have been through a lot. We try to help them forget their painful experiences by creating a happy, safe childhood full of hope. With time, the unconditional love they receive here lets them open up to others and reciprocate these feelings.
Today, Mateusz, president of a foundation that’s supported Kasisi for years, was on the receiving end of such a display of emotion. It’s his birthday tomorrow and the sisters planned a special surprise for him. This afternoon, sister Mariola came running to announce that a large branch had fallen on the roof of the dining room. Mateusz headed over to see the damages only to be met by all the children, who surprised him with a performance of the song “You Are Our Angel” as well as a huge birthday cake. Mateusz couldn’t hide his emotions.
This is what Kasisi is all about – we care about everyone. Thanks to you, we can continue to shower our children with the love and affection they all deserve. Today is their day and we hope to see all their dreams come true.
The metal cots and worn-out mattresses have lulled generations of Kasisi kids to sleep, but are now in desperate need of replacement.
