In the last few days, life has decided to remind us that it has a harsher side too, and no matter how much we try, despite all the love and tenderness we put into Kasisi – where there is health, illness lurks in the background, and where there is life, there is always death around the corner. We had not yet had time to fully accept the fact that Emmanuel had passed away from us 2 days ago, when yesterday came further devastating news: Gabriel has died.
The last three weeks were a fight for his life. In this attempt to ward off death each day, a ray of hope shone brighter and brighter, that we would succeed, that we would pull the boy out of hunger disease. Unfortunately, his weakened body could not cope with kidney failure. The boy passed away surrounded by LOVE and the best of care.
The metal cots and worn-out mattresses have lulled generations of Kasisi kids to sleep, but are now in desperate need of replacement.
Our dream is to make the babies’ bedrooms look like a truly homely, safe environment that is associated with warmth. Will you help us make this dream a reality?
