Do you remember Sylvia? Today the little girl is celebrating her first birthday. When she came to us, she was two months old and weighed just 2 kg. She was very neglected and we had to admit her immediately to the “House of Hope” home hospital. We fought for her life. During the long treatment there were some tough curveballs. Some people didn’t give the little one a chance, but we never lost faith that she would make it. We knew that the little one would not give up so easily and would stay with us.

It was YOU who gave us this faith. Thanks to you, we welcome every child who stands on Kasisi’s doorstep. We are not worried about whether we will be able to afford medicines and therapeutic milk. It is thanks to your open hearts that we have our own outpatient clinic, where we can perform basic examinations on a child in the middle of the night without having to drive to the capital. The ultrasound, the ambulance – it is because of them that you have already saved the life of more than one child.

The authors of each of the miracles at the Home are you! Kasia, who donated PLN 100, Zosia, who donated PLN 5 from the bottom of her heart, Antoni, who became the adoptive parent of one of our charges, and Tomek, who shopped for children in our online shop. It was also Asia and Jacek, who asked their wedding guests to throw a few pennies into a collection box for Kasisi instead of flowers. Not least are Mrs Barbara and Mr Zenon, who keep telling us that there is a special place in the world where children are simply happy….

The people mentioned are a tiny fraction of the endless list of our children’s silent Angels. You are not bystanders; you are people who have declared, “We are with you and we will fight for these children.”

Today, thanks to you, Sylvia is celebrating her first birthday. James is in rehabilitation every day, Angela is smiling from ear to ear and little Jacob, who practically nobody gave a chance that he would develop properly, is running around and enjoying life. All this good is happening thanks to you!

See for yourself how Sylvia has grown up beautifully. Like a real woman, she has her moods, sometimes she laughs, sometimes she cries – in a word, she LIVES to the full. Maybe we can celebrate this miracle together, YOUR miracle, with a birthday cake for Sylvia. We really do have something to celebrate, and it’s the best gift for the little one: she’ll get everything she needs to continue being a happy and healthy child.
