Little Joy came to Kasisi because the hospital became her parents’ home. Her mother is in the final stage of cancer, and her father doesn’t leave her side. Their story began with a difficult battle even before Joy was born. It was then that the illness first struck, turning the joyful anticipation of a new baby into a fight for survival.
Today, the hospital walls are the only daily reality this family knows. In a room where time is measured by the sound of medical equipment, there is no place for a child’s laughter, first steps, or carefree play.
And yet, once a week, something beautiful happens. The Sisters bring Joy to the hospital so she can be held in her mother’s arms. In those precious moments, the pain seems to fade away. Joy is still too young to remember these visits, but we believe that the love she receives now will give her a lasting sense of security throughout her life.
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings.
