Twalumba’s mother, who also once found refuge under the roof of Kasisi, had to face the challenges life presented to her. Youth can be especially cruel for those without support or proper conditions. This was the case for Twalumba’s mother. When she left Kasisi, she was ready for a new chapter in her life but did not anticipate the great difficulties she would encounter at such a young age. Unfortunately, reality hit her hard. The daily struggle proved to be more challenging than she had expected. The future that once seemed promising suddenly became uncertain. Amidst these turbulent events, an unplanned pregnancy further changed everything. She was not prepared for motherhood, but fate had other plans. In this difficult situation of sudden motherhood and lack of support, Sister Mariola appeared. Her heart was big enough not only to help Twalumba’s mother but also to care for the little boy. She offered to help take care of him, giving his mother a chance to finish her education and better prepare for life for both of them. Now, Twalumba lives with his mother. The love she has for him is immense, but reality can be harsh. Living conditions do not always allow for all the child’s needs to be met. However, thanks to the support promised by Kasisi and the “Adoptions from the Heart” project, Twalumba does not have to feel alone in these tough times. Every night, he can fall asleep feeling the warmth of his mother’s arms.
The metal cots and worn-out mattresses have lulled generations of Kasisi kids to sleep, but are now in desperate need of replacement.
