In 2016, a woman knocked on Kasisi’s door with a group of children. That was Barbara’s mother, seeking help after her husband, who battled alcoholism and drug addiction, left the family and abandoned them without any means of support. The mother, who had been caring for the children, couldn’t sustain her five offspring on her own. She promised to bring them home as soon as she gets back on her feet. Sister Mariola, seeing how the mother tried her best, visiting her children every Saturday to spend time with them, play, and talk, decided to help her. After finding a job and building a home, the mother began taking her children back one by one. Barbara is now with her mother, but we continue to support her through the “Adoptions from the Heart” program.
The metal cots and worn-out mattresses have lulled generations of Kasisi kids to sleep, but are now in desperate need of replacement.
Our dream is to make the babies’ bedrooms look like a truly homely, safe environment that is associated with warmth. Will you help us make this dream a reality?
