Grace came to Kasisi with her mother, who was homeless and gravely ill. Despite her hardships, Grace showed a need for warmth and closeness. Her joyful smile and open heart draw people to her. Recently, after a long separation, her mother visited her. Grace had eagerly awaited this moment, believing it would mark the beginning of a new chapter in their lives. Her mother promised that they would never be parted again and that she would come to take her daughter with her. However, after a brief period of togetherness, she had to leave. The promise was broken, and Grace’s heart was wounded. This event was a profound disappointment. For a while, Grace lingered in sadness, trying to understand why her mother had left her again. Yet, despite her young age, she is incredibly wise. She quickly realized that she needed to cope without her mom. She knows that her new life is now at Kasisi, surrounded by people who provide her with lots of love every day.
The metal cots and worn-out mattresses have lulled generations of Kasisi kids to sleep, but are now in desperate need of replacement.
Our dream is to make the babies’ bedrooms look like a truly homely, safe environment that is associated with warmth. Will you help us make this dream a reality?
