Steven’s mother, full of hope, went to a local clinic to receive professional care for her childbirth. Unfortunately, even in such a critical situation, she had to face bureaucratic obstacles. The medical staff refused to help her due to the lack of rubber gloves for the doctor, which the institution deemed mandatory. Unable to return home quickly, the woman was forced to give birth on the way, which ultimately led to her death. Overwhelmed by grief and loss, the family decided to entrust the twins to the care of our Sisters. Steven and his twin brother, Christopher, came to Kasisi a few days after they were born. Unfortunately, fate continued to be cruel. Christopher lost his battle with leukemia and passed away on July 15, 2020. Despite the tragic circumstances, Steven turned out to be an exceptionally ambitious and organized individual. His relentless hard work and determination led to an extraordinary achievement – he was accepted into university. This event, though symbolic, marked a significant opportunity for a fresh start and further development, opening wide possibilities for self-realization and gaining knowledge.
A school kit includes notebooks, allowing children to study at home. It also includes a pair of shoes, which, if not for Kasisi, they would have to borrow from their siblings. And finally, a delicious, healthy sandwich in the backpack, which gives them the energy they need for their studies. Just like the sandwich their mother would prepare. You can pack one into their backpack today—from right here, from your own home.
