When Sylvia came to Kasisi, she was just two months old and weighed only 2 kilograms. She had lost her mother, and none of her relatives took on the responsibility of caring for her. She was found neglected and alone, in desperate need of care and love. We immediately welcomed her into our House of Hope, reassuring her that she is important and loved. Once her condition improved, she moved into a room with other young children. But it wasn’t easy at first. Sylvia cried a lot. We quickly realized that it wasn’t just the change of environment that caused her distress. Health issues resurfaced, making every day a struggle for survival. But we didn’t give up. We tackled every problem with determination and dedication. Today, Sylvia is a lively and smiling girl. At Kasisi, she has found not only a roof over her head and care but also a family that loves and supports her. Although her beginnings were tough, looking at her now, we are proud of who she has become.
The metal cots and worn-out mattresses have lulled generations of Kasisi kids to sleep, but are now in desperate need of replacement.
Our dream is to make the babies’ bedrooms look like a truly homely, safe environment that is associated with warmth. Will you help us make this dream a reality?
